Hello , à plasterer is coming next week on Wednesday to add white set plaster to my walls. How long do I have to wait before installing skirting boards? The builder said 48 hours but I thought it would be longer.
just to add that the white set Plaster is not going to be all the way down the wall, It’ll be just the top part of the skirting boards that cover the new white set Plaster and I’m pretty sure the screws and liquid nails will not need to touch the white Plaster Thank you

Hello @maro
There are a number of factors that influence the time the plaster cures. Temperature, humidity, and plaster thickness can extend the waiting period significantly. It’s always better to err on the side of patience, waiting a few extra days ensures your plaster is perfectly cured. In that manner putting anything on top or painting it will guarantee that the plaster will provide a stable finish. The last thing you want to happen is to affect the edge finish of the plaster because you installed the skirting board too early.
Let me call on our experienced members @Nailbag and @AlanM52 for their recommendations.

Hi @maro
depending on ambient conditions it can actually take 7days plus to fully cure. If you're not in any urgency, the longer you leave it the more set it will be. Especially if using an adhesive for the skirting boards.
