Hi again,   I have these blue coloured skirting boards that I want to paint white.   How do I go about painting over them? Do I need to sand first? Can I choose a water based paint even though they might be oil based on them currently? We only recently bought this place so I don’t know what paint is currently on there.

@wilkos,   The three Kaboodle 600mm Slimline Wall Cabinets will be wide enough to accommodate the Palladium BBQ at 937mm. You'll then have 503mm to the right-hand side of it for the Matador bar fridge. On the left of the BBQ, that leaves you with around 947mm, which would be perfect for two Kaboodle 450mm White Base Cabinets.   The Matador Palladium 4 Burner Built-In BBQ comes with a grill plate and solid flat plate.    Although the stone benchtops are heat resistant, as with the BBQ placement, there must be an air gap. You'd need to look at pizza ovens that are raised on feet so that heat does not directly transfer to the benchtop. The benchtop can be drilled to install accessories.   I've added a rendering below. Be advised that as the Essential Stone benchtops require custom work I am unable to add the required benchtop under the BBQ placement area on top of the Kaboodle slimline cabinets.   Please let me know if you have any questions.   Mitchell

Hi Mitchell,   Thanks for that. I will be lowering the shelf and have to drill out some small holes so the shelf fits just above the range hood.    So looking at this rendering, you would cut 3 pieces of MDF and screw them in from the top cabinet behind the kick board ?    two for the sides and one for the front ?    Kind Regards, James Underwood

Transform your outdoor entertaining area into a warm winter haven for friends and family to enjoy. Outdoor heating and clever design can help ensure a deck, patio and even a garden can be cozy and inviting.   Check out the advice below and let us know if you need ideas for your home. We’re here to help.   Outdoor heaters   An outdoor heater can help you enjoy an alfresco area all year-round. Both gas and electric models are available and offer instant, constant heat.   Outdoor area gas heaters provide direct heat and can warm a significant area. They come in various styles, including freestanding, tabletop and wall-mounted options.   Infrared strip heaters are highly efficient as they directly warm objects and people rather than just heating the air around them. They can be conveniently mounted on walls and ceilings, freeing up floor space.   Check out How to choose an outdoor heater for more advice from the Bunnings team.   Fire pits    Fire pits not only provide warmth but also help create a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Wood-burning fire pits add rustic charm to any setting, and are available in different finishes such as stone, steel, cast iron and concrete.   Get more inspiration and advice from How to choose a fire pit, our Top 10 most popular fire pit projects and How to build a fire pit.   Outdoor blinds    Weatherproof bistro blinds can be zipped together to form a continuous barrier, keeping warmth in and cold wind out. They are an excellent choice as they block the wind while allowing light to come through, maintaining visibility and a sense of openness in your space.   Outdoor blinds can also help partially enclose an outdoor area, buffering against cold winds while letting natural light and fresh air in. This reduces the chill without fully closing off the space.   The Bunnings team has a step-by-step guides How to install bistro blinds and How to install outdoor roller blinds.   Outdoor furniture   Using outdoor furniture with cushions instead of bare steel provides insulation and comfort. Cushions help retain body heat better, prevent the discomfort of sitting on cold metal surfaces, and enhance your outdoor space's overall warmth and coziness.   Get more advice from the guide How to choose the right outdoor furniture and How to choose the right lounge furniture.   Blankets and throws    Keep a supply of warm, weather-resistant blankets and throws for your guests. Fleece or wool blankets are good choices, and they can add a cozy touch to your outdoor decor.    Strategic landscaping    Plant trees or shrubs around your outdoor area to act as natural windbreaks. Dense hedges, bamboo, or evergreen trees can block cold winds and help create a more sheltered microclimate in your yard. If vegetation is not an option due to limited space, screening panels should be considered.   Get more advice from How to plan a garden makeover and ideas from our Top 10 most popular screening projects.     Spas and saunas   Elevate your outdoor experience with the addition of a spa and immerse yourself in warm water or indulge in the heat and detoxification benefits of a sauna. Whether you seek relaxation or rejuvenation, these luxurious amenities offer year-round appeal. They are also space efficient and portable.   Get more advice from The ultimate outdoor spa buying guide.   When choosing a sauna, look for features like internal colour therapy lighting, Bluetooth audio and integrated controls for comfort and convenience. Consider an infrared sauna for clean, dry heat and easy assembly.

Hi @bergamotblack    It is, of course, now winter and apple trees are deciduous, meaning they lose all their leaves at this time of the year. I wouldn't stress about leaves darkening or changing colour now as they are all going to drop anyway over coming weeks! While dormant (asleep over the cooler months), the tree is not going to take up or need much in the way of fertiliser - the time to feed it is in early spring when the flower buds are just showing colour and the new leaf buds are starting to unfurl. What you do need to do is watch for any signs of disease discolouration on the new leaves in spring and take any remedial action needed at that time, not now.

That's certainly achievable, @wilkos. However, those glass doors are no longer available from Kaboodle. The rest is just their base cabinets, and you'll need to select suitable sizes for your needs. As mentioned, if you can let me know your BBQ and fridge width, I can help with the selection. The cabinets under the BBQ are three 600mm slimline cabinets positioned on their sides. The benchtop is constructed using Essential stone and their suitable colours are caviar and liquorice. These two colours are both fire-rated and suitable for exterior use.   Mitchell
That’s @MitchellMc !   yeh the one with the black bench top looked great, I believe it was in a bunnings store as a display? That’s what I’d like to achieve

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Getitdone4. It's fabulous to have you join us. Many thanks for your question about repairing a water-damaged plasterboard.   Can you please confirm for us that you have removed the water and resolved the issue that allowed it to enter the plasterboard in the first place?   I can see that you have what appears to be an electrical switch within this vicinity. I have concerns that this level of water within the plasterboard might have migrated towards it, and you'll need to have that assessed by an electrician. Water and electricity are never a good mix, so address this before moving forward.    Once the electrician gives you the all-clear, you'll need to do some discovery work to see whether the plasterboard is not compromised and in need of replacement. If water has entered the plaster, it might need to be cut out. If the water has been contained just under the paint and not the plaster, then you need to cut away the delaminated paint, sand the area, apply a skim coat of filler, prime, and, when dry, paint the area.  Please let me know if you have any questions. Morning @matt234  Thats ok, ideas are just that, ideas They dont cost anything to consider.  Think your sketch looks good, cant see any issue with it.    Dave

Hi @JamesT1,   Once you've dropped that mid-shelf, it should just be a matter of using a CustomPine board to box out the ducting. You might need to add some additional holes on the sides of the cabinet to allow the shelf to be supported just above the range hood. Remember to follow any guides provided by the rangehood manufacturer for required setbacks and air gaps.   I've created a rendering below to help illustrate how to box the ducting in. The panels can be secured through the top of the cabinet with screws and at the base with small angle brackets.   Remember your PPE including safety glasses, a face mask and gloves.   Please let me know if you have any questions.   Mitchell

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @wilkos. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about creating an outdoor kitchen. There's been a couple of images of outdoor kitchens in this discussion, one with an inbuilt BBQ on a bench and the other by @mmasci utilising a freestanding BBQ. What design were you going for?   The Kaboodle base cabinets can be used in an enclosed alfresco area, provided they are not exposed to the elements. Due to their modular nature, you will be able to achieve something very close to your desired length. Since you'll be creating your own length, I cannot currently provide specific product IDs. If you can let us know the width of your BBQ and fridge, I can then assist with selecting the appropriate cabinets to make up your 2450mm length. Please let me know if you have any questions. Hi @bergamotblack,   Applying fertiliser was a smart move, as yellowing leaves often indicate a nutrient deficiency. Additionally, ensure you check the soil's moisture levels and adjust your watering schedule so the soil can dry out slightly between waterings.   Have you experienced any frosts or particularly cold days in your area recently? The purple colouration on the leaves might be a sign of cold damage. If you are seeing frosts it would be best to cover the plant with frost protection overnight.   Pesticides should only be used if you notice pests on the plants, and since it doesn't sound like there are any at the moment, it's best to avoid using them.   Here are some helpful guides: How to diagnose a sick plant, How to grow and prune an apple tree and How to plant, grow and care for a mandarin tree.   I'd tag a couple of our gardening experts, @Noelle and @mich1972, to see if they have any additional insights.   Please let me know if you have any questions.   Mitchell

Thanks @Dave-1 and @EricL , super helpful! My wife wants the brick top so I think the Gabion might be out even though it certainly is much easier! Though this makes me think I might be wise to do the locking blocks and then just rest bricks on top for now, once happy its all stable etc I can mortar the bricks in place.   Yes @EricL, the garden bed is higher than the wall. Where you see it at the top of the trench under the grey fence is its natural level. So I would have 1 brick course higher than that so the top of the wall aligns with the bottom of the fence. The yellow string line is the wall level - from just above the patio render, to just above the plinth boards, to the base of the fence.    The trench is currently 750mm deep to build a 350-400mm wall. I was thinking 2 courses of versawall/locking bessa blocks (only 1 leaf/skin thick though not double like the revised CAD image) + red brick toppers, or 6 courses of double brick (double because people said single wasn't strong enough to retain (though 350mm isn't that tall...). This is because the wall needs to be 350mm above the underhouse 'ground' level to match the garden bed edge, then 70mm for 1st brick course buried, 150mm for the slab (perhaps overkill), 100mm for roadbase, and trying to get under the roots etc took it another ~80mm further which I plan to put back in as soil and compact before adding the road base.   Another rough drawing attached of the side view.
This is exactly what I’d like just in a smaller size where can I find the product details/ID. I’d like to make this is approx 2450mm length with a fridge recess
Oh thanks @JacobZ , I read somewhere that the reinforcing should always be at least 50mm from the edge so was factoring that in.

Hi team     we have recently had our kitchen cabinets installed and have noticed they have not boxed out or put a void to run the flex in, so it is currently just sitting connect up once you open the cabinet.  what could someone suggest be the best method to box out the 150mm flex and still have room in the overhead cabinet. I will move the shelf down as far as possible.
