Hi team,  I have just removed the mantle and old texture coating on my 1920s fireplace. I need to sand it, patch and smooth. A few questions: What grit sandpaper would you use?  I have concremate expanding cement for the holes, will this work well?  can I just use a gyprock skim coat or do I need a masonry specific one?  thanks!

Hey guys,   I must be going for a record for the number of threads about my laundry project here. Appreciate all your replies and effort.   While I wait for the tile adhesive to dry before applying the grout, I wanted to test out the taps and seals.   This picture is of the laundry sink tap pipe. My problem here is when I put on the plumbers tape to seal it I can only rotate about 1.5times around before it gets too tight. Even using no thread tape it only rotates 1.5 times. The added problem here with only rotating that much is even with the dress flange on the tap, there's about 4mm gap between it and the tiles.   Do I need to clean the threads since they seem to be stopping the tap from rotating any further? I'm wary of causing any damage, because that could be costiler.   Thanks.

Dear Community experts / members,   The privacy set on one of my doors is not working. Upon checking, I found that the latch is not working (as identified in Picture 2 and 3).   For context, the latch on my door does not have any screws. It sits in tight as you can see from the photographs (Refer photo 4 and you will find that there are no screw / holes for fixing the latch to the door.)   I am looking for some guidance on the following:    a. Is it possible to find a replacement for this part ? If so, would be able to advise where I should look for ?  b. If option A is not possible, is there an alternate set that you would recommend ? I went to Bunnings and bought a privacy set. (Lemaar - Calida - Privacy set) However, this privacy set requires screws to be attached to the latch like in Photo 5 which I would like to avoid.)

Hi there I'm looking to plan a bathroom/laundry combo and was wondering if/how i can place my washing machine on top of the 1 draw 600mm cabinets?  Problem is my washing machine would need to be set back at least 65cm, and is exactly 60cm wide.  I'm happy to use 2 of the cabinets for the width but would really like an option for setting the cabinets off the wall slightly so i can comfortably sit my washing machine on the cabinet. Any advice is appreciated Thanks Sharna

Hi All I'm trying to fix this shelf onto the plasterboard wall using 15kg WallMate screw in anchors from Bunnings. The screws only go in about half way through and they are stuck and so tight. I've tried the screwdriver, drill but no luck. There is no stud in this area of the wall.  What am I doing wrong here ? The screws came with the anchors.  Any advice to get me out of this issue is appreciated.  I'm worried about putting pressure and damaging the plasterboard.  Thanks  Jude

Hello,  I have a problem in my home country where the leaves clog outdoor drain. I have an old video of the situation , the drain is not visible in this video however I have marked it location in the picture. As you may notice the leaves fall continuously from the creeper next to the gate  The drain is somewhat like this one . I was looking for at ideas to stop it from clogging but things like this are not possible since they protrude outside and people can trip over. the other option I found was this one, but not sure how effective it is. Can you suggest some options. thanks

Hi. I have a 8 or so year old Matador four burner with an attached wok burner. I don’t know the model but it’s not being sold anymore. The will burner has corroded and isn’t working efficiently. The available user manuals on the Matador site don’t show my model or any model that I can see with a wok burner so I haven’t been able to find the part number to seek to order a replacement part. Any assistance in identifying the part number would be much appreciated.  Cheers   Rob

Hi,  I have an old house with wooden exterior window frames/window sills.  A few of these are in pretty bad shape, how can I go about restoring or repairing these? In the photo attached you can see the paint has started to peel away. The wood is brittle in areas and soft in others.  I would appreciate any help!  Thanks

Looking for advice on how the best way to repair these small cracks in the joints of the ceiling wall in the bathroom. Photos (white section) is the ceiling, tiles are the 'side wall'   I'm looking at either the Selleys wet area silicone sealant but given its not directly above shower, am also gravitating towards the Selleys No More Gaps Kitchen and Bathroom Filler.  Appreciate any advice.

We installed 6 100*100 stirrups in concrete after someone suggested them in Bunnings when we said pergola. Now we came to purchase the posts and realized 100*100 cypress or pine posts are not smooth and do not have proper shape. We found 90*90 posts in premium section but nothing 100*100. Wondering if we can attach 10mm wood to 90*90 posts and make it work with stirrups that can't be changed. Or any other way to make it work. Our pergola is just for grapevines and roof will be just covered in strings to spread the vine. No actual heavy weight on it.   Any suggestions will be appreciated.
