We installed 6 100*100 stirrups in concrete after someone suggested them in Bunnings when we said pergola. Now we came to purchase the posts and realized 100*100 cypress or pine posts are not smooth and do not have proper shape. We found 90*90 posts in premium section but nothing 100*100. Wondering if we can attach 10mm wood to 90*90 posts and make it work with stirrups that can't be changed. Or any other way to make it work. Our pergola is just for grapevines and roof will be just covered in strings to spread the vine. No actual heavy weight on it.   Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi there I bought an old place and moved in to find the oven didn't work. It was an old Chef Integra Baroness that had a separate grill. I have a new standard 60cm oven ready to install but does not have a grill and is a bit wider so I need to modify the cabinet. I've not done this kind of thing before but don't really have the spare cash to spend on a cabinet make, plus the kitchen is old and tired so it doesn't need to look incredible. The current cavity is 765 wide 960 high and 589 deep (rear face of front panel to wall) The current opening is 545 wide 905 high and 16 deep   The new oven requires a hole 560+8 wide, 590 high and 550 min deep. I want to modify the cabinet and add an off-the-shelf drawer underneath. I have some questions interlaced in the steps I plan to take below. Appreciate any help.   1) I will widen the opening to 560mm by taking off around 7.5mm each side of the opening using a jigsaw, I will clam some straight timber to use as a guide for a straight line.   I need to reduce the height of the opening by 905-590 = 315mm.    2) I will need a shelf. The plan dimensions will need to be 765 wide (I might make it 760 wide to ensure it fits) and min 550 deep. Since the cavity is 589 deep, I'll go with 560 for a 29mm gap behind. Question: What material and thickness of that material should the shelf be for strength and any requirements for oven heat resistance? The shelf will be supported on two sides only.   3) Supports for the shelf. I want to narrow the cavity below the oven to 560mm to be flush with the opening and to fit an off-the-shelf drawer such as the one in this link https://www.catch.com.au/product/elite-kitchen-pull-out-drawer-suits-600mm-cabinet-9115728/   I would then need to source supports for the shelf that are 560 long (to match the shelf) and each 100mm wide (from 102.5mm). The height of the supports would depend on the thickness of the shelf. For example if the shelf were 16mm thick, the height would be 300mm Ideas for these supports would be appreciated.   In summary  1) What thickness and material shelf would i need to support a standard 60cm Bosch walloven considering any heat requirements. If will be support on the sides with a span of about 560mm.   2) Ideas for the support that are 100mmx300mm (approx) cross section and 560mm long. Assuming that I can get a timber section a bunnings of these dimensions cut to length? What wood would I want?    3) Anything I haven't considered?   Thanks for any help!   Pic below.

I'm currently in the design and planning stage of converting my shed into a home however, I am not sure where to start. The shed I will be renovating is a fixed structure with water and power. I assume the first step of my project will be to instal insulation throughout. What products/tools would be recommended for this process?

Hello,  Can I please have some advice regarding enclosing my veranda to make a catio? I have never done anything like it before. I was thinking about using pet mesh and securing it using H3 treated pine cut to fit along each metal post and railing (for added security and so I can attach shelves for my cats to sit on in the future). I'm not sure what screws I should use or if I should use brackets maybe? Although my veranda is enclosed, whenever it rains it does get very wet, should I coat the treated pine in something extra? I would also appreciate advice on how to add a secure door, so my cats can have 24/7 access while still being safe at night etc. My entry is very wide so I was thinking about adding a thick piece of wood from roof to floor a little further than the railing for a secure door entry. Do you have any advice for me? Thank you!

Hi l want to paint over some section of the interior of my house, theres about three differnet shades of white the doors , trimms and ceiling, l dont know the correct names of what shade of white each one is, how do l find out what is the correct shade of white to buy. l tried those paper color matching things you have in the paint section but l never seem to get or find the correct matching one , the only way l can tell for sure is to actually buy a paint sample to see if its a match and if its not then l have wasted my money

My wife is entering a Hospital Cake Competition - the theme being the "most important piece of equipment" in a hospital. She's going for a hospital bed utilising a narrow cake rack. The 'mattress' will be a cake - and a patient may be involved. I'm looking for ideas on making legs and wheels. Any thoughts anyone? Cheers on a rainy Saturday.

Looking to remove some built in shelving in our laundry room to make room for a dryer to go alongside our washing machine. Novice DIYer so welcome any tips on how to tackle this.   Attached a picture and total dimensions are roughly 80mm wide x 230mm high. Shelves appear only fixed (glued?) into the wood base by the three vertical panels. The left/right sides and back don't appear fixed to the wall. No electrical outlets or pipes that should be affected.

Hello friends, I'm after a little advice/inspiration for my mum's garden. We're in Adelaide, if that helps. I'm wondering: - what type of mulch/ground cover would be best? - any point in getting rid of all of the white stones (of which there used to be much more), or just leave them to be covered up? - do I need to do any kind of "tilling" or soil preparation before I add bark/ mulch? - is weed mat a thing? I'm still pulling up black plastic from 50 years ago that was disintegrating, so I'm not so sure it's wise... My plan is to add several bigger bush/tree species toward the road, then scale the size back, before having some native flowers and smaller plants closer to the house. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!   If the images look a little weird, I've just crudely removed some distinct features of the neighbourhood.

Hi there! we just bought new Bosch washing machine. Now when we try to install the water inlet hose it is not closing properly. I have tried the hose with garden tap and it just worked like a charm but not with the laundry tap. I am not sure what is the issue?  The size of the tap may be is the problem? If so how to figure out that? The tap is facing upwards; can it be the reason?  Thanks in advance

Hi, I've been having an office built out the back and it's ready to have the archs and skirts installed.  My plan was to learn how to do this myself and I've done a lot of googling and watching the diy vids.  My problem is that there is a huge gap from the frame of the window to the plaster.  I thought the plasterer was going to pack it so that the plaster came flush with the frames, but I must have misunderstood him.  My problem is now I'm not sure how to resolve the gap that will be behind the archs if I install them as it is.  I'm a bit stumped and in need of some help please and thankyou

Hi All,    Having an issue with our new shed that I built. During heavy rain water seems to splash onto underneath the roof sheets and drip onto purlin / inside wallsheet. Isn't a big amount but enough to form drips on the top purlin. During very heavy rain I had about 50c size puddle on the floor in 1 spot. Would something like trimdek seal be enough to stop this?   Thanks in advance.
