Top hinge of our front door screen door came off. I went to bunnings and was advised i could try some glue and nails and toothpicks   I got some liquid nails and some nails 30mm x 1.6mm im going to try to glue it up and put nails in and  then hopefully i can the door back on but wondering   Does this look like it needs a new frame and if so what costs do you look at for a frame replacement? FYI the yellow stuff is old glue someone tried fixing with and let just drip down

Hi there,   We have had a new skylight installed in our apartment, complete with open skylight shaft. I need to paint the new skylight shaft as well as repainting the existing ceiling due to patching of the plaster work and I would like to get some advice on paint selection.   Can I use a ceiling paint on both the ceiling and the sides of the skylight shaft, or should I opt for a wall paint for the skylight shaft walls?   I have read that Taubmans Tradex Ceiling Paint could be a good option: https://www.bunnings.com.au/taubmans-tradex-white-flat-interior-ceiling-paint-15l_p1540673?store=7313&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_-GxBhC1ARIsADGgDjvtfgRvnQWM2BlXJIWgJrJeCLDHwaTILz6d5h_fWpLOfCiugS5k_dIaAtNWEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds   If I was to use the above paint and it is suitable; could I apply it directly to the new drywall of the skylight shaft and apply 2 coats, or would I need to prime first?   Finally, is the Tradex Taubmans ceiling paint suitable to repaint our cornice coving?   Photo of the new skylight attached.   Thanks, Daniel

Hi, I am looking at doing something similar to the below image. I’m looking at having the front loader wash and dryer side-by-side. I’ll have Kaboodle base units (400mm and 200mm) either side of the washer+dryer. I’m looking at using the Think Solid bench top. My questions are; how would I have support for the bench top over the washer/dryer as the gap for the two will be 1300mm? Also would I need to install kick boards or end panels on the inside of the washer/dryer gap?  Thanks!

Hello all,   I found there is a small gap between 2nd floor and roof on the first floor externally. Do I need to seal this gap to prevent any insect and rodent entering into the house ?or are they for any purpose ? I have attached photos for your reference. This great little vertical garden is the perfect solution for small backyards. Not too difficult to whip up, all you need is some 140 x 35 framing timber, screws, pots and if you choose, some paint. I’ve created a four shelf garden, but this can easily be adapted to add extra shelves if you’re hoping for more variety in your herb garden.  Materials 7.2m 140 x 35mm outdoor framing h3 treated pine https://www.bunnings.com.au/140-x-35mm-outdoor-framing-h3-treated-pine-3-6m_p8032245 4 x Jack 50 x 14cm Concrete Grey Garden Up Classic Pot https://www.bunnings.com.au/jack-50-x-14cm-concrete-grey-garden-up-classic-pot_p0262809   Zenith 10-8G x 50mm countersunk rib head timber screws - 50 pack  https://www.bunnings.com.au/zenith-10-8-x-50mm-galvanised-countersunk-rib-head-timber-screws-50-pack_p2420882?store=2260&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADtbEB_Z0YqL4dqWBccdx9z6nFkzQ&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_-GxBhC1ARIsADGgDjvH0fGZA4FIHlikQ73sF3q2GOoAShSEFo8E1wVaoupu7f13R5SnbJ0aAjGiEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds 500ml of exterior paint of your choice. I used British Paints 4 Seasons White Exterior paint https://www.bunnings.com.au/british-paints-4-seasons-low-sheen-white-exterior-paint-500ml_p0207078?region_id=112440&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADtbEB_94Ic87ZfTjtzXy0wAtRc49&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_-GxBhC1ARIsADGgDjudKyCYrblmrTMrBF8HASMwJMn5yRXq9pc0Wwoc_yYdEHCzzQa8hJoaAhFoEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds       Tools Ryobi One+ Drill AEG Drop Saw Ryobi Disc Sander Steps Step 1   Cut two identical legs that measure 1m each. These legs will need to have a 90 degree angle so that they sit straight.  Cut two more legs at the same length but ensure to cut the ends at a 25-30 degree angle. These will be the legs that hold the steps to ensure each step is slightly further back than the last.  Connect one of each leg to the other by placing the straight leg on the outside of the angled one and secure with two 50mm screws 1 inch apart at the top. Ensure that the tops of each leg end in line and level with each other to create the lean.   Cut 3 shelves at 52cm in length each. This will ensure there is enough space to allow for the pots to sit. Step 2   Measure 4 equal sections along your slanted legs. This will be the positioning of the shelves. Be sure to mark these clearly and accurately on both legs.   Place the legs 52cm apart and use wood or other packing material to create a spacer for your shelves. I used scrap wood to ensure I could keep the shelf at the correct height before securing it.  Secure the first shelf on both legs by placing two 50mm screws 1 inch apart on the outside on the leg.  Step 3   Secure the other 2 shelves to the unit using the same spacing and attachment method. To make the placement easier, a large quick grip will be able to hold the shelf in place nicely. Step 4 Once all the lower shelves have been attached, it’s time to measure and cut the top.  To do this, measure the distance between the very edge of the legs at the top of the structure. Add 2cm either side to allow for some overhang and then cut your top shelf.  Secure this to the ladder by screwing two 50mm the shelf to the top face of each leg.   You now have your structure complete!  Do a quick check by adding your pots to ensure they all fit well. I had to cut the corners of the pot on the second highest shelf to ensure a snug fit but no other adjustments were required. Step 5 Give the whole structure a quick sand with your disc sander using a fine grade sanding disc (120). Apply 2 coats of your chosen outdoor paint. Step 6 Go and buy your chosen selection of herb seedlings from Bunnings, pot them and enjoy your brand new herb garden!

I am currently rejuvenating some old director's chairs. I have new back and seat fabric for them. Unfortunately, my chairs had fabric that was attached on either side simply with furniture tacks (I'm not sure of the correct name for these but they are similar to thumb tacks and pushed through fabric into wood) Current director chairs all appear to be slightly different in that they are built with a groove in each side post and the fabric is looped on the edges and has a wood rod which slips in and then appears to be slotted into the groove on each side. I have only been able to obtain seat fabric suitable for the modern chairs. That's o.k. save that I will still have to fasten it to the chair side rails and can't use the rod and pocket type of fastening.   I can simply fasten them again with furniture tacks. I don't want to do that if I can avoid it because I'd like to be able to take the fabric on and off easily so that I can wash it when necessary.  Undoing tacks is a pain as there are 6 on each side rail and it is also difficult to get them on and off repeatedly without damaging the side rails.   So, I wonder, does anyone know of a way I might be able to secure the fabric onto the side rails with some sort of clamping piece or gadget so that I can fasten the seats on and take them off quickly and easily and without damaging the wooden side rails or the fabric?   I've attached some photos and hope that these show what I mean ...

Hi All. Does any one know how to get these marks off my black wooden coffee table? I got them from when I had tissue paper and was painting my nails on the tissue. The tissue was meant to protect the table but obviously didn’t.  When it’s dry the spots are white but when it’s wet/wiped over it just becomes dark spots. Please see pictures.    Appreciate any advice

hi, any advice appreciated, as you can see from the photo my roof has no insulation under the tiles and the up stairs of my house gets very hot and I'm guessing this is the reason, also it gets very noisy from the traffic on the road outside. Was thinking something like polystyrene sheets might help with both noise and heat or what would you guys recommend, budget is small as we've just purchased the property but I also don't want to waste my time on something that won't work. Thanks.

Hi all, building another merbau privacy screen 2000mm tall 6700mm wide, using 90mm boards. Wanting to install a descent water feature which is basically a blade or thin curtain of water that will spill out from the wall , my question was is this design ok? if I purchase one with a projected spout that shoots out (in theory not touching the wall)    or am I best to look at a different water feature all together like a water wall and attach it to my screen?

I am planning to build a small retaining wall, using besser block and mortar, about 40 cm deep, in-ground.   I have to choose between high or medium impact builder film.   Obviously, high impact builder film would be the best choice, but it is also 150% more expensive.   I would please like to know if the benefits (i.e. durability and longevity) justify the difference in price.   Thank you   High impact builder film: https://www.bunnings.com.au/cagroup-4-x-50m-x-200um-orange-high-impact-polypro-builders-film_p0360887 $255   Medium impact builder film https://www.bunnings.com.au/cagroup-4m-x-50m-x-200um-black-builders-film-polypro-polyethylene-film_p0334737 $118.56

Hi, I’m about to start a low level deck with posts and bearers. I have a few questions.  1. How far apart should the posts be on the external bearers and is it ok to fix with bolts and not notched.  2. For the joists, do I have an internal bearer of simply support the direct joist with posts ?   Thanks in advance. Im hoping to use 120mm bearers.

Hi! I'd like to restore these outdoor chairs but I've never done it before and I'd like to know how and what do I need for this. Hope you can help me First issue is rust that needs to be removed. I was thinking about using a sanding sponge to remove all the rust and then applying Metalshield Steel Primer Spray. Do you think that is enough to fix it? Second issue is that the upholstery is super dirty and stained. Do you think that a Britex Deep Cleaning Machine is enough to clean it? Finally, is this rust toxic? Should I use a mask while sanding it? I appreciate any tips you can give me. Thank you! Cheers

Hi im trying to rejuvenate an old slate hearth that has been spattered with paint(both tiles and grout). I have scrubbed it with scrubbing brush and dishwashing liquid. Also some steel wool when this did not get the paint spots off. Scraped with a scraper also. I also used isopropyl alcohol on certain spots to clean it also. This was a bit tacky for a while post this. Does that mean that the sealer was solvent based? The alcohol really dulled the spots where I used it to clean.  So many questions…. Anymore ideas on what to do to bring my hearth back to its former glory

Also we tried putting some tape over it but that hasn't stopped the leak. Replacing the gutter isn't straightforward as access is not easy as it's a double storeyed house. Any thought?
