How to extend tap body for very thick benchtop?

This is standard basin tap body. The 32mm threaded section is 35mm long.

To fit in new bench top the threaded section needs to be at least 50mm-60mm.. Do these exist.?

The hole in the ceramic is approx 34mm so no hope of joining on a joining piece.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @garrycarter. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about basin tap bodies.

Just to confirm, your benchtop is 50mm thick? That's fairly thick, and I am unaware of any tap bodies of that length, so you might need to look at doing some custom work to the underside of the benchtop to allow a standard basin tap body to fit. Being ceramic, that would be relatively difficult and require a professional to cut trenches in the underside of the bench so the tap bodies and pipework could be recessed the required amount.

Hello Mitchell.

The thick bench top is a porcelain basin so there is no chance of cutting it. It is 40mm thick so  I calculated I would need about 50mm to allow nut and seal on each end. Thank you for any ideas.

Quite often you'll see thick stone kitchen benchtops that need to be trenched underneath @garrycarter. Porcelain is doable with diamond angle grinder wheels, but it is certainly an extreme option.

Let me mention a couple of our knowledgeable members @Dave-1 and @Jewelleryrescue to see if they have any thoughts.

That is a thick benchtop! I was thinking along the same lines as @MitchellMc. I even thought of drilling/cutting out the underside so it would fit the tap. 

I would be hitting up the supplier and asking them what their recomendation of products for their benches are. They would probarly have come up against this before. 

I dont know of any products there are to extend the tap. Maybe a different product line may have some that will work with your benctop?
