Re: How to fix leaks in an old Dorf shower mixer control.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @kiwiwala. It's amazing to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about fixing leaks in a shower mixer.

Could you please let our helpful members know a little bit more about where these leaks are coming from? That way, they'd be better placed to offer useful suggestions. Are you seeing the mixer valve itself leak at that point, or are the leaks coming through the showerhead?

In either scenario, you'd likely need to access the mixer valve's internal mechanism to assess the issue and determine whether parts are available for the unit. It sounds like the internal ceramic disc cartridge needs replacing, and there's a good chance that this FIX-A-TAP 40mm Flat Mixer Tap Cartridge Repair Kit would work for your unit. That flathead screw appears to be the first fixing to remove whilst accessing the inside parts, but please remember to turn off your mains waters before undoing anything.  Once you've removed the internal cartridge, you can take it to your closest Bunnings store to match it up with what's available.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your fast response. The water is leaking from behind the turn on/off knob. The water also goes hot and cold during showering. A bit of jiggling of the knob fixes it temporarily.

Sounds like the internals need to be replaced, @kiwiwala.

If you can manage to remove the cartridge then we can see if it looks similar to the FIX-A-TAP 40mm Flat Mixer Tap Cartridge Repair Kit. Hopefully, it would be a straight swap.
