How to polish an acrylic bathtub?

Good morning

i recently removed some essential oil stains from my acrylic bathtub using jiff and a fine grit sanding pad and a lot of elbow grease and it’s come up really well. I’m concerned that I have taken away a layer of protective coating in the process. I’m looking for a wax that I can apply to brighten and protect. The only Bunnings item I can see that might fit this description is autosol acrylic polish however I’m not sure if it’s suitable for bathtubs. Would this product do the trick?

thank you

Angela

Re: How to polish an acrylic bathtub?

Hello @AJ108

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about polishing your bathtub.

Acrylic baths come with a proprietary top coating that gives it that surface polish. It is technically possible to polish the surface of the bath, but it will not be a long-term fix. If you are looking for a permanent fix, I suggest engaging the services of a bath resurfacing specialist. They will have the knowledge and equipment to re-seal your acrylic bath in a more permanent manner.

However, if you are not yet ready to have your bath fixed, using the Autosol 75ml Acrylic Polish will temporarily polish the bath surface. I propose testing a small portion of the sanded area to make sure that it is compatible with the bath.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
