Timber decking on existing pavers as a base for an aluminium gazebo.
I was a newbie attempting this deck. I ended up using TuffBlock Instant Foundation System Deck Supports for the foundations (the 'dots' in my diagram below). The deck is 3.4 x 4.4m in order to hold a 3 x 4m Mimosa Lava Portsea Gazebo fixed on the top. So, I needed to consider two things - hiding the TuffBlocks and making sure the gazebo poles sat over the corner foundations.
The deck extends a total of 200mm out each side, with noggins to stabilise. It sits in the TuffBlocks, and had to be at least 35mm depth. Ideally, I'd rather make them 3.4m long (so I didn't have to buy 3m lengths and have to join them).
The deck was built above an existing brick paving area with the joists sitting 90mm above ground. The low deck was built over existing pavers using TuffBlocks, structural pine and composite decking.
We’re quite proud considering we’d never built anything before.

That has come up nicely! Ive considered using the tuffblocks before but never got there. The gazebo certainly adds some nice shade to the area
I cant see your drawing so I have a question about your foundations that you mentioned? Is the deck fixed to the pavers in the corners or is the gazebo fastened to the deck in the corners? I do like the slats in the gazebo bein able to be adjusted like that!
Nicely done
Dave
