Having an Impact

This large wall unit was rebuilt to accommodate a big-screen TV and hide the cables.

The project

It was so much fun turning this '90s wall cabinet into our Hamptons-style TV cabinet.

We started by removing the back panel and the shelving through the centre. We were able to reuse most of the timber to create some open shelving either side of the TV.

We used a VJ panel as the new back panel, and some SpecRite raw timber panels to aid with the new shelving structure.

We then gave the cabinet a sand, applied Taubmans 3 in 1 primer, and painted it in Taubmans Inner Circle. We replaced the knobs using Bunnings products, drilled a hole in the back to hide cables and mounted our Foxtel box behind the TV.
