Having an Impact

This impressive coffee table was made using timber from 50-year-old bed posts and 20-year-old steel.

The project

I turned 50-year-old bed posts and 20-year-old steel into a coffee table.

I used the following tools in this project:

  • Metal detector (always good when working with recycled timber)

  • Thicknesser

  • Dust extractor

  • DeWALT cold cut saw

  • Mig welder

  • Angle grinder

  • Plunge saw with a guide

  • Sander

  • Drill

  • Clamps

  • Joiner.

I have collected my tools over a long period of time. All of the above are not needed to do the job but they do make it easier. You definitely need a welder, angle grinder, saw, drill and clamps for this project.
