How to get rid of these bugs and weeds?

Hi all, im a newbie just having problems with these weeds and bugs that I can't get rid of. This green weed and these white worm looking things, would greatly appreciate any help thankyou

Can we ask where you are based? It might help people identify your weeds and critters. 

And could you please tell us where in your garden you can find the worms? Are they doing damage to your plants?

Hi, not sure if that worm thing is a problem or not,  im hoping someone could tell me, as im only use to seeing the normal brown worm

Thank you for sharing your question about the bugs and weeds in your garden. That particular bug you took a photo of is a millipede. These insects get often get a bad reputation in the garden, but they are actually quite helpful. They are classified as herbivores and eat leaf litter and scavenge on almost anything, including waste or rotting vegetation material. They are excellent garden buddies.

The weeds on the other hand can be removed by pulling them out or neutralised by using a Weed Killer. Just keep in mind that some weed killers are very powerful and could affect the plants in your garden, so please choose carefully. If you have any other conditions in your garden that are concerning you, please don't hesitate to post them. Our members will be more than happy to provide advice and information.

Hi @kakariki . As @EricL said, that millipede is nothing to worry about. It's actually helping you out by eating dead plant matter and improving your soil. I think it looks quite handsome too!

That weed looks like nutgrass (Cyperus rotundus), which can be a tricky thing to get rid of. It grows little tubers and networks of underground stems that usually remain behind and sprout again if you just grab the green blades and try to pull them out by hand.

If you want to remove it manually, it's best to get a small spade to lift out a whole chunk of soil and then sift out the roots and tubers by hand. For chemical control you can use Sedgehammer herbicide. Always make sure to read the attached safety sheet when using a herbicide or pesticide, especially if you want to use it in an area where you're also growing food.
