How to repair a kitchen benchtop?

Hi

I need to repair this on my kitchen bench top. I would like to know if I can buy a sort of filler at bunnings.

Thanks

Michele

Re: How to repair a kitchen benchtop?

Hello @Michele2

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your benchtop.

I'm looking at the photo you posted, have you attempted a previous repair on the damaged area? It looks like it already has a filler in it. Will you be removing the old filler and filling it with another filler? If you are, I suggest looking at using Selleys 50g Knead It Aqua Epoxy Putty

The putty can be pushed and flattened by hand, and it is possible to sand it down once it has fully cured. Please note that it dries to a light grey and will therefore need to be painted over with a colour that is similar to your benchtop.

The advantage of using Knead It Putty is that it is heat resistant, waterproof and works on various substrates. My best advice is to use only what you need and make sure to fill only up to the surface of the benchtop. This will save you from having to sand too much of the repair area.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: How to repair a kitchen benchtop?

Hello @Michele2

Just a quick follow up to my suggested solution to your damaged top. Is your benchtop by any chance a stone top or is it a laminated top? If it is a stone top, I suggest contacting a stone specialist that deals with this type of damage. Unfortunately, neither a filler nor putty will work with this type of damage.

However, if it is a laminate surface, one other type of repair you can do is to fill the damaged area and repaint your benchtop using the Dulux Renovation Range. It is formulated to go onto laminated surfaces including benchtops.

I suggest having a look at this discussion - Budget kitchen refurbishment using paint by @Shirld. There are some excellent examples of painted kitchen upgrades.

Re: How to repair a kitchen benchtop?

Hello @Michele2

PC-11 is a good product and is at par with Knead It when it comes to sealing. I leave the choice up to you to which filler you want to use.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.
