Arch salon shelving using old bookshelf

I upcycled this basic old pine bookshelf into a beautiful, on trend retail shelf for my hair salon. 

• I started by taping cardboard to the shelf to create different shape arches. 
• I used expanding foam in the gaps I wanted to fill the shelf in. 
• When hardened. I smoothed out the expanding foam using a hand saw to be flush with the bookshelf. 
• I used cornice adhesive (plaster) to cover the bookshelf. I used a trowel to apply and smooth. 
• When it was dry I used a hand sander to smooth out the plaster. 
• Primed the inside of the arches. 
• Painted the bookshelf in Dulux “vivid white.”

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @ebonierose18. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for sharing this wonderful project.

I absolutely love it; the Mediterranean vibes are just the best! The organic shapes of the carved areas are so neat. Do you have plans to do anymore? I think a smaller wall-hanging version would compliment it well.

You've done a spectacular job, and I trust you are delighted with the results. I look forward to seeing what project you tackle next.

Wow that's really cool.

All I saw was the cardboard and thought oh dear that looks a bit unfinished ha-ha
