Outdoor storage solutions can make your backyard or garden look neat and tidy while protecting items from the weather.

 

Below are some creative ways Bunnings Workshop community members have added valuable storage to their homes.

 

1. Build a bench seat with storage

 

A bench seat can double as a handy place to store items. Woodworking expert Rylie (@LePallet) built a large outdoor bench seat with storage underneath using recycled materials.

2. Create a bike shelter

 

Install bike racks, wall mounts or shelters to store bikes and keep them protected from the elements. Brett (@weekenddiyer) added a bike shelter for easier access when revamping his side yard.

3. Add outdoor cabinets

 

Maximise storage and keep your barbecue area clutter-free by adding cabinets. In this outdoor kitchen project, member @RayaJane added Kaboodle cabinets with a built-in sink and tap next to an undercover barbecue.

4. Make a potting bench


A potting bench provides a dedicated work and storage for gardening projects. Community member @Catldoo's potting bench includes hooks and a shelf for gardening tools and plants.

5. Construct a bin storage unit

 

Bin storage units are great for hiding unsightly bins. Annette (@annettespanski) built a bin storage shed using timber and Colorbond painted in Monument.

6. Make an outdoor storage box

 

Use storage boxes to remove clutter and keep your backyard tidy. This outdoor storage box by @nparrella95 also includes a built-in drinks cooler.

7. Build a shed

 

Sheds are a popular way to add valuable and versatile storage. @Nham's garden shed is a perfect size for storing tools and garden supplies without taking up too much backyard.

8. Design custom storage 

 

You can design custom storage solutions based on your specific needs and space constraints. Get inspired by Workshop member @CourtyardMaker who used Merbau screening panels to create hidden storage in their courtyard for garden tools, pots and a clothes hanger.

9. Broom rack

 

A broom holder is handy for storing and organising brooms, mops and other cleaning tools. Resident Bunnings D.I.Y. expert Eric shares a simple step-by-step guide on building a broom rack and mounting it on a wall.
