How to repaint a walker handle?

Have a wheelie walker and have noticed a few small scratch marks on the handle. How do I repaint it (with what kind of paint etc).

Re: repaint

Hello @tisme

Thanks for sharing your question about touching up the paint on your wheelie walker. Would it be possible for you to post a photo of your wheelie walker? Our members can then assess how bad the scratches are. We can then make recommendations on how to proceed.

Are you after the same colour or would you like to paint it a different finish? If you wish to paint the handle and it is made of metal, I recommend having a look at the Rust-Oleum Paint and Prime Spray. They come in a variety of colours and one of them might be a close match to your walker's colour.

I suggest having a quick look at this discussion - Spray painted tapware by @lifestylebymari. This is a very good example of a metallic item being spray painted. The spraying techniques used can be applied to your walker.

I propose bringing your walker to the store and speaking to the paint specialist. They should be able to find a suitable match for your walker's paint.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: repaint

Hi @tisme

Thank you for posting a photo of the handle. It looks to me like this handle has seen a few bumps and bruises due to daily use. Touching it up with spray paint is one way of repairing the scratches, however, have you considered using K-Flex 9 x 13mm x 1m Elastomeric Pipe Insulation - Suits 1/2" Pipe to protect that area from constantly being scratched?

The foam pipe insulation can be wrapped in electrical tape or similar to prevent it from falling off. Another product you can use is the Gorilla 48mm x 8m Clear Repair Tape. Once you have spray painted the damage and the paint has cured, I recommend covering it with the repair clear tape to prevent future damage.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
