Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's marvellous to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about primer sealer for weatherboards.
Would it be possible for you to post a picture of your weatherboards? Are they previously painted or are they brand new? Is it made of timber or fibre cement? Once our members see your weatherboards, they'll be able to make an assessment. We can then make recommendations on how to proceed.
Water-based paint has a shorter drying period, cleanup is easier as you don't have to use turps and are much more resistant to UV rays, allowing them to retain sheen levels and colour over long periods.
Oil-based paint on the other hand takes much longer to dry, you need to use turpentine to clean your brushes and rollers. Because it takes so long to dry it is more susceptible to dust and debris contamination from the worksite.
