Re: How to build an open bookshelf?

Hi @Samara1,

We can special order hardwood timber up to 290mm in width. 350mm hardwood timber would be very expensive as it needs to come from a single tree.

You might like to take a look at these discussions, which offer alternatives to using a solid length of timber: Floating shelf by @Starkers_17 and D.I.Y. floating shelves by @Tara86. You might like to consider using a laminated timber panel for the shelf and then adding a thicker trim to the front edge to give the illusion of a thicker shelf.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Re: How to build an open bookshelf?

Hello @Samara1 Bunnings supply thicker pine boards that can be stained to match your preferred timber style, I have used these in the past with great success, personally I would rather pine over any type of manufactured (composite) product, opinions vary 👍
