How do I run an ethernet cable across the room but under a carpet.

You could use a cable puller to get it under your carpet, but it will be noticeable. Can you go through the ceiling or under the house? I have a few cat cables that I've recently run under the house. I did have them going across the floor for years, but I finally got fed up with them. It took me less than 10mins to feed them under the house and then back up again. So much better.
I presume there is some reason why you're not going wireless? I run an ethernet cable to my computer and TV as I play games and need the fastest connection possible. Do you have brick walls and struggle to get a signal? If so, we've got tons of range extenders that could get you around some tricky walls if placed strategically.
