Budget-friendly laundry transformation

EVERYTHING PURCHASED FROM BUNNINGS & FINISHED TOTALLING - $1,100

🧺Assembled flat packed cabinents;
🧺Updated the tap fittings;
🧺Moved powerpoints to under the bench as the cords from washing machine etc ran half way up the wall;
🧺Added a timber bench top;
🧺Some shelves
🧺Removed 💩 tiles
🧺Repaired walls
🧺Waterproofed
🧺Tile backspash
(First time tiling too!)

There was no cabinents or benchtops at all when we moved in and the tap stopped working to add to it so we had to do most of filling of laundry buckets and soaking etc in the kitchen, even though there are bigger projects we need to complete, out of necessity we threw this into the mix too and tried to do everything we could (apart from electrical and plumbing) that the professionals took care off.

⚒️ Not bad for a budget makover! Just proves that you can acheive a designer look for less if your prepared to roll your sleeves up and choose wisely.P

You have really done a lux for less! Did you start with tiling first or the cabinetry? What advice would you give to someone starting a laundry reno of their own?

Hi Katie

Thankyou for the msg,
First we did our stand up base cabinent on floor at one end and then brackets for the bench top on the opp end and one in middle for extra strength. The kaboodle cabinents were so easy to assemble! We used a pre cut off the shelf pine benchtop that we screwed into brackets from underneath making sure they didnt go through.

To determine the height for the overhead cabinents we placed two of the mosaic tile sheets we were using one above each other and marked the wall. With the cabinents to be installed above this. (This actually worked out great! so no tile cuts were needed to get the tiles to fit nor was there any wastage. Over head cabinents once in a position we were happy with attaching to studs. Being smaller cabinents after doing two of these we realised the third wouldn’t reach a stud to secure into, so left this space open added one more in the corner and added Shelves in between which we screwed into from the inside of the cuboards to hold in place. For an added pop of colour we masked off inbetween shelves and using a sample pot of left over paint painted the dark section between shelves it draws interest towards the timber shelves and breaks up all the white at The same time.

Next we popped the cover off power point, tiled around it and then waxed the timber bench using some old fashioned lavender beeswax.

We are thrilled with the result!
