Claw bath restoration

I don’t have a bath in my bathroom and have always wanted an outside bath. I bought the cast iron claw bath for $10 and payed another $100 for a set of old feet.

I did a lot of sanding a bit of filling to get a smooth surface. I then used rust converter on the inside surface rust. I love the rust on the outside and wanted to leave it. I then primed and did 3 coats of white (white night rust guard epoxy enamel)

It came up a treat! I then added a rustic shelf on the corner where a chunk was missing and added a waste.

It was then lifted into place on my back decking.

The plumbing was also DIY with the help of clip on fittings from bunnings. It has hot and cold running water and is so relaxing to soak in!

this is great thanks @nicky67 - wondering if you have any photos of what the feet fittings looked like on the bottom of the tub, and how you attached the feet? I have a rusted old bath too and want to do the same....image attached of whats on the bathtub I have....

Hi @hm1,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community.

I have been looking to see if I could find anything that would be suitable as claw feet for a bathtub, but I have not had much success. I suspect the majority of modern claw-foot bathtub manufacturers would make the feet as part of their production process and do not sell "spare-parts".

Hopefully, @nicky67 can provide some guidance, but you may need to look at having something custom-fabricated by a metal shop or even an old-school blacksmith.

Hi Heidi, this is a picture of the feet on my bath, I hope it helps. I think maybe with yours there would be a bolt that slides into the slot allowing a foot with a hole in it to be bolted on with a nut? Just a single mum so not overly knowledgeable on this …..good luck! 🙂

Must say I havnt come accross claw bottomed feet, would love one yes but havnt got to work on one yet. Could you supply a few more pics of the top down and side profile? As @nicky67 has shown her bathtub it does seem like there will be a mechanisim that will wedge/slot into.

I just had a google search for antique bath tub feet and there seems to be a few options. Will wait and see what your pics may show.
