Vintage-look chest of drawers

This was our first piece of furniture bought when we moved to Australia in 1999. It went through a varnish phase and a terrible attempted paint phase 🙈

Thankfully my taste for design has changed all these years later. I did keep an original knob that our then puppy Archer chewed on, he is over the rainbow now.

I stripped, bleached and sanded the piece, then used a 50/50 white wash to achieve the desired antique effect.

I love this one! 😊

Another gorgeous project under your belt! I am loving this modern farmhouse look. What does that technique include when you said you "bleached" it?

I have to say I was not surprised when I saw that it was a beagle that chewed the handle of the drawer! I have a tallboy with a couple of handles chewed - I think mainly by our first beagle, Shebuh, who has also crossed the Bridge, but also a little by Indi, our current beagle. I like what you have done with the chest of drawers..... I am about to embark on my own project, and came here for hints!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's terrific to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your plans on doing your own upcycle project.

I certainly know the feeling of having pups chew on your furniture. My nephew has a very young dog and she just does a taste test of everything in sight. Let me tag @jodi1 to make them aware of your kind words. It's great to hear that this appliance makeover has inspired you to embark on your own project.
