This fire pit area with hanging chairs provides a perfect setting for year-round relaxation.

The project
I wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing to sit and have a coffee or a cocktail after a long day at work, and for lazing around in and and having a nap or reading a book. I decided to make this fire pit and seating area, and I did it all myself.
I levelled the ground, which involved shovelling a lot of sand, gravel and rock and installing a small retaining wall. I decorated with some small plants and fairy lights.

The swing chairs were easy. I dug the holes and concreted in some Pine posts, then I attached another Pine post to the top of it and secured it with long screws and brackets.
Then I placed wider Pine on the front and back of the top post to give it a nicer finish, and attached the two smaller diagonal pieces in the corners to give it extra support. I put long eye bolts in the top beam and used shackles to hold up the chairs.
There was a bit to it but it was easy enough. It's an amazing area to sit in and relax by the fire, or for spending time with friends and family.
