How to replace tiles in backyard?

Hi all,

Im seeking info to know options for tiling in backyard. Trying DIY, as you can see we had marble tiles installed professionally, I’m looking to extend the area with more similar tiles. Wondering would I need to put concrete for the base or just cement and sand would do?

Typically, you'd use concrete as it's far better for a slab than sand and cement. The included aggregate heaps it not crack. They are both bagged products, and using sand and cement is no easier than using concrete. Check out this helpful step-by-step guide on How to pour a concrete slab.

You'll either need to have a flexible join between the old and new tiles and slabs or fix the slabs together, so they don't move independently. Having them independent would just require a flexible grout line, but you could experience a stepped transition in the future if either slab's height changes. To connect the slabs, you'd have to drill into the side of the existing slab and Chemset in several lengths of reo bar that extend out into the new slab you're going to pour and are wired to the mesh in it.
