How to cover yellow streaks after priming skirtings and window sills?

I have just started painting skirtings and window sills in our 1980s house. These are the delightful honey oak timber look, which I am hoping to transform to semi gloss white. 

I was recommended to use Dulux 1 step prep water based primer. I’ve sanded and done one coat but it’s dried very patchy and there are yellow streaks / patches coming through, which I assume is from the timber tannins? I’m not sure what to do…do I do another coat of primer before painting, or just start the top coats. I’m worried the streaking will show through and really don’t want to have to do it again later as I’m about to get new flooring done. Please help! 🙏

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about getting yellow streaks after priming.

I suggest the following steps, let the current primer dry off and sand off the yellow streaks as best you can. I then recommend changing your primer to Zinsser 1L Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Undercoat Primer Sealer Stain Blocker. It is a water-based, whole-house primer, sealer and stain blocker for interior and exterior applications. A minimum of two coats will be necessary, but a third coat might be needed if the stain is very strong.
