The director of The Real Estate Stylist has listed decor items that instantly cheapen a home for sale - silver furniture, black leather, budget homewares, anything red, and personal photos. What decorating items do you think actually reduce the perceived value of a house?

I think over-styling is a trap that some people fall into. You see homes for sale that are just too cluttered full of personal items. It makes it harder for people to imagine themselves living there, and makes rooms look smaller than they are. Decluttering and only leaving neutral furniture and decorations is important.
