Assembling the Practa Modular Kitchen

Hi All,

It's been a while since I've logged in as there's been a lot going on, and now I've had the Practa Modular Kitchen delilvered and I'm trying to assemble it.

Now, I have assembled plenty of flat pack stuff in my time, but I'm like a deer in the headlights with this kit. So, the builder cut the big box open yesty, and inside is each 'unit' plastic wrapped with instructions. I sat down last night to start, only to read the first step which says that Selleys Aquadhere is recommended. Got that today, check.

I can't see anywhere that refers to an overall instruction manual for the entire kit, so I'm kicking off with the 450mm wall cabinet. Step 1 says to use the glue, check, 50mm screws, check, and screw the rails into the panels, hmmm 😬 For the life of me I cannot see either the top nor bottom panels in the shrink wrapped contents with 3 drilled holes across the top, and 3 on the side. I have 4 panels with 2 holes on the side, and 2 across the top. I'm embarrassed to say that I've ground to a halt on step 1!

Also, there is a damaged panel which I discovered when going through each panel to find the right one... Pic attached. Is there anything I can do about this, or just suck it up?

I'm sorry to hear that part of the kitchen panels were damaged. The first thing I suggest doing is sending these pictures to the special orders desk of the store you purchased it from. It's important that they see this as soon as possible so that they will know that it arrived damaged at your place. 

I then recommend speaking to the in-store kitchen specialist so that they can identify the damaged panels and arrange for it to be replaced. 

The top and bottom panel for the 450mm wall cabinet is approximately 450mm wide by 300mm deep. It could deceptively be packaged together as a long panel. I suggest getting your tape measure out and measuring the panels that are close to the measurements I've mentioned. By using the process of elimination any panel that is not 450mm x 300mm is put aside and whatever is left should be the top and bottom of your wall cabinet. 

In theory you should have a total of 4 of the 450 top and bottom panels that corresponds to the two 450 wall cabinets. There will be two shelves at 418mm x 300mm. Please make sure to look carefully at each panel as the drilling marks for the top and bottom might be very faint.

Another method to narrow down the parts is to assemble the 900mm wall cabinet first. Once you have the 900mm wall cabinet assembled any parts left for wall cabinets will belong to the 450mm wall units. The remaining parts will be bigger as they are for the base units and the pantry.

In the interest of safety make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves and goggles when working on the cabinets.
