Love the colour of these @Yorky88. They look fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Jason
These look awesome @Yorky88 im amazed how you find good straight pallets like you do haha
Thanks @Jason and @LePallet yeah it’s definitely a mission finding straight timber and straight pallets however I have a few secret sources now haha so it’s not as bad.
@Yorky88 These are gorgeous!!! Did you make them? Can you plant directly inside of them? I would love to make something like this for my friend who has a hideous backyard....
Hi @Kim2 I sure did build these. Yep they are fine to plant straight into. I line them with weed matting first so there are issues and to protect the wood a little bit. This was a pretty simple build. If you would like any further tips or plans please feel free to send me a PM or leave another comment.
@Yorky88, Ill comment so that other people can gain your pearls of wisdom! What type of wood would you recommend for a build like this? (something that I can get from Bunnings would be a plus)
Did you use any supporting bits of wood on the inside? I would love to create an exact replica 😀
Btw ambitious newbie here, apologies for the incorrect terminology.
Hey @Kim2 yeah you can definitely get everything you need from Bunnings that’s where I got majority of the stuff required.
I used long recycled pine pallets for the timber which I managed to jag for free as they are hard to find. Especially straight ones. I then added 2 supports on each panel as well as the uprights in each corner as they are so long. I used the barer’s from the pallets for these uprights so there is little or no wastage from the pallets. I used a jarrah stain by Cabot’s that you can get at Bunnings, a box of 50mm decking screws and 6 x 100mm castor wheels for easy movability.
If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. I am more than happy to answer any questions. I don’t know everything and I definitely don’t have all the answers by any stretch but I am more than happy to share the knowledge I do have. Definitely no need for Apologies you gotta start somewhere. I still don’t know all the lingo either.
I look forward to seeing your finished product. I’m sure it will be awesome.
Do you have the plans on how you made it?
Looks great! Thanks!!
Welcome to Workshop @Pearso and thanks for joining in the discussion.
Let me tag @Yorky88 for you so he sees your question. I'm sure Marty would be happy to help in any way he can - he is very passionate about pallet projects!
Do make sure you have a search for other raised garden beds across Workshop. We have lots of great examples that members have shared.
What are you thinking about building? Is it for a courtyard area like in the photo above?
Hi @Pearso thank you and thanks for the message. I don’t have any plans for these as pretty much everything I build, I build completely off the top of my head however I do remember how I built them still so if you would like I would be happy to draw the plans up and share them with you no problem at all.
Thanks for tagging me @Jason 👍🏻
Fantastic @Yorky88, many thanks for the very generous offer. I'm sure many community members would benefit from sharing the plans.
Love, love, love this idea! And they are on casters! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Yorky,
I know this is an old post, but would you be happy to share your plans for these? They’re great! S
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @sraffle. It's fabulous to have you join us and many thanks for joining the conversation.
Let me mention @Yorky88 so he is alerted to your question about plans.
Are you planning on building your own set of planter boxes?
We look forward to hearing about your project and offering assistance with your build. We'd encourage you to start your own discussion on them, when you begin the build, as I trust our members would like to follow along.
