Was thinking of laying down a thick mulch layer along the my ~10m long timber backfence (to reduce amount of grass to mow and plant some native plants), and was wondering how/if I should be protecting the fence?
Worried that the mulch would be too moist, and prolonged exposure to the posts/pallings (the posts and railings are on my side of the fence) would cause it to rot faster. Should I paint any exposed area with bitumen paint (or similar), or attach something like builders plastic to the bottom of the fence?
