Home alarms can immediately alert you when your doors and windows are opened or damaged. Many alarms also come with security stickers as a deterrent. 5. Upgrade your lighting
Motion sensor lights can scare off trespassers while increasing visibility for you and your guests. Community member @diy_hausdesigns installed solar floodlights in his outdoor entertaining area, making the area more visible and secure at night.

6. Install a screen door
A screen door is an effective way to safely view who is at your door. The spray painted screen door by @homeinmelbourne is a good example. Community member @wooshka built sliding outdoor timber screens to secure his deck and carport area for extra security.

7. Extend your fence

9. Secure your deliveries with a parcel letterbox
The online shopper boom means that many people now receive more home deliveries. A Blackbutt timber slab and concrete base were used for a bespoke letterbox by @Herrenovacation that's large enough to accommodate parcels.

10. Keep your keys safe
Many wall-mounted key safes are simple to install, even on a brick wall as explained by community members. If you are renting, lock a portable version to a fence or handrail.

11. Improve window and entry-glass privacy
Reduce visibility from the street into your home. Experienced member @prettyliving has shown how easy it is to add D.I.Y. tinted window film and D.I.Y. frosted front door glass.

12. Buy a safe
