An old Pine bookcase transformed with a combination of black and white paint.

The project
I purchased an old, two-metre-tall, solid-pine bookcase and gave it a contemporary facelift.
First, I cleaned and lightly sanded the entire bookcase. Then I used British Paints 4-in-1 Prep to give it two coats all over. This prevents any stain showing through. Once dry, I painted the internal back and sides with Taubmans Easycoat Low Sheen in white. Again, I used two coats to ensure even coverage.
For the outside of the bookcase and the shelves, I used Taubmans Easycoat Low Sheen in All Black. I love the low sheen as it’s almost a satin finish. It’s so contemporary without the gloss and it looks amazing in my study.
