Hi
I am a DIY and constructing a low-level composite deck for the first time. For this project i am considering the following method for the decking frame.
The relevant dimensions, material and installation for the deck and subframe are:
- deck area is 6m x 9m,
- finished deck level is 150mm above the ground,
- 50% of the sub frame will be on concrete and 50% will be on soil,
- Sub frame will be H3 90mm x 45mm structural pine,
- span of joists will be 1.144m,
- joist spacing will be 380mm,
- Joist and Bearer Protector G-Tape will be installed on top of joists,
- Joist will be painted with 2 coats of Crommelin Exterior Grade Brushable Waterproofer,
- soil is covered with geotextile fabric and gravel,
- the sub frame is supported with Modular Decking Adjustable Support Feet on concrete area and concrete peers 300mm x x300 x x300m in soil area.
Is this methodology appropriate and is there any recommendations/advice?
Regards
Arthur
