Hi all,
I am building a deck with Ekoboards. The deck measures 3m width x 5.4m length and include picture framing at 6mm spacing. I have calculated 24 ekoboards and 2 sets of quick fix to lay the decking. The deck will be fixed to brick wall which is part of the house.
The deck will be built up on concrete footings 300mm deep, with tuff blocks on top. 16 concrete footings will be dug and boxed at 300mmx300mmx300mm.
In terms of Bearers, i will do 4 bearers at 5.4m long, by joining 2 lengths of 3m of 200x50 together, requiring 8 lengths of 200x50x3m. They will be spaced 1 meter apart.
Next i will along the 5.4m insert 11 lines of noggins/joists, using joist holders. They will be cut to size and fit flush with the height of the bearers. Noggins will be placed approximately 490mm apart.
Weed mat will be layed underneath.
I am curious if i am over doing it with my bearer and noggin spacings. I suspect there will be great structural integrity, so hoping it will be sufficient. Any thoughts, ideas, support would be appreciated.
