How to fill this gap between wall and bench top?

Hi,

I have replaced an old custom built vanity for a new, waterproof one. I have discovered that the corner wall isn’t 90 degrees. It’s actually less. So the vanity top is flush against it at the front but has a steadily increasing gap as you move back.

It is too big to silicone nicely.

Any ideas? The vanity isn’t in, it is just sitting there while I work this out.

Hi @ozziemum,

That's a difficult one. Since the gap is that awkward on that side, what's the other wall like on the right? Could you move it over there? Alternatively, spacing the vanity equally apart from both walls and leaving a gap might be a better solution.

You could potentially fill the gap and even make it look neat. However, it would still be a very large silicone joint and most likely wouldn't look aesthetically pleasing.

Given the circumstances, I know it's not ideal, but I'd recommend spacing the vanity 30mm from the misaligned wall. You could add timber beading to try and cover the gap, but that might just look odd.

Thanks, moving to the right wouldn’t work as there is a bath there. We tried that.

I ended up taking the tiles down, making a thin ramped wall starting at 3mm then 6mm and finishing at 9mm. Nailing it to the gyrp then tiling over that.

Than dealing with silicone. Much happier!
