I have a Bathroom Basin Pop Up Waste Mechanism which has broken. I don't think this type of mechanism is still available but I have seen a newer type at Bunnings, which is suitable. Can I replace this myself or will this require a plumber? I'm not sure how to remove the existing mechanism and how to detach it from underneath. Does it require any type of sealant when replaced? Please see attached photos.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Hi @JohnJoe
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's marvellous to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your pop up waste.
Your pop-up waste looks very similar to the MIXX Chrome Universal Pop Up Waste. In this particular instance, I suggest engaging the services of a registered plumber to change your plug and waste. Basin trap adjustments might be necessary, and it can get quite involved.
I suggest showing your plumber my recommendation on which pop-up waste to use and they can make an assessment if it is compatible.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
