How to replace old basin tap spindle?

Taps are pretty old and one tap head leaks so I need to identify what type of spindle I need to replace the existing spindles. I'm new to this so I've been googling, I could be wrong but they don't appear to be quarter/half turn as when turning on the taps they keep turning increasing the flow.

Hi @tsma

You can fix that water leak by replacing a black o ring around the shaft by continuing unscrewing the tap upwards untill the oring is visable.

Alternatly take the spindle to bunnings and get two new matching spindals and valves to suit with staffs help is usually best dealing with a large array of parts.

Typically, ceramic disc spindles will lock after a quarter or half turn. I've never seen them make full revolutions like the older valve-style spindle does.

@Jewelleryrescue is correct that if the tap itself leaks (not through the spout), then it's likely an O-ring on the spindle that needs replacing. I'm not entirely sure whether the method to access that O-ring is the same as the older valve-type spindles where you turn the spindle shank out of the body. With a ceramic disc tap, the shank is locked within the body by that circlip halfway down the spindle shaft. That will need to be popped off to release the spindle. For the price, it's likely best to replace the taps with an Estilo Chrome Basin Top Assembly, which is the older jumper valve style taps, or you can replace the ceramic spindles with something similar, but they will be quarter or half turn.
