How to remove wall taps?

desperately trying to remove this tap assembly from bathroom wall. 999/1000 there is an Allen nut underneath the pin lever but not on this one.
I can loosen the base flange and middle body but can’t remove the front to remove the rest and reseat the tap.
many help anyone?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about removing your tap handles.

Just to be sure regarding the grub screw in the handle have you tried to insert an Allen key into the space of the handle? If there is no grub screw your handle in theory would keep falling off every time you tried to use it. But because it is firmly attached convinces me that there is something holding it in place.

If you shine a light into the space all you would technically see is a threaded hole and the brass spindle. Which is similar to the handle you've just removed. Now it would be a different story if the grub screw is stuck inside the handle.

If the grub screw is stuck inside the handle, I suggest trying to use a Craftright 10 Piece Hex Key Set. This has the ball end profile that might still anchor itself to the sides of the grub screw. If that fails, I recommend using Sutton Tools No1 Easy Out Extractor Screw Set. Please note that once you use this tool it will be necessary to replace the grub screw with a new one.

If after all that effort and the handle refuses to come out, I suggest engaging the services of a registered plumber. They have specialist tools that will allow them to remove the handle without harming the spindle.

Hi Eric. Thanks for the reply.
I have tried Allen keys and ball end hex keys in the hole left by removing the lever/pin. There just isn’t anything there. Nothing/no grub screw is left in the lever/pin or handle.
your correct that the hole is threaded to accomodate the lever, but if you look closely at the above picture you’ll see there is nothing but a machined convex surface.
I thought the lever was possibly holding it in place but I’ve tried to pull the handle off, with grips, wd40 and brute force.
It remains a mystery.

Did you manage to remove the other handle or are they still both attached? I'm afraid I'm not aware of any other techniques we can apply to your tap removal. At this point in time, I suggest engaging the services of a registered plumber to remove your tap handles. I don't recommend forcing the tapware any further as it might get damaged.
