So someone used the benchtop to iron clothes and it's broken...
What can be done? The thickness is 20mm.

I'm so sorry, but reattaching the broken section is really outside the realm of D.I.Y. as any repair that you do could result in failure again and injury. I'd recommend contacting a professional that deals specifically with benchtop repairs to see if anything can be done.
