How to paint wrought iron fence? How to prep?

I have tried googling this to no avail. We have a wrought iron fence that needs repainting. It is currently painted in a green colour but we want to change the colour to suit our newly painted home. 

My main query is, what primer do I use? All the info on google explains primer for bare iron. Not already painted iron.

Hi @samkeo,

Since the wrought iron is painted, you would follow the application steps for a pre-painted surface. You'll need to give the fence a good scrub down with Sugar Soap and then flush it with clean water. Once dry, apply any standard exterior primer and paint.
