I have wooden boards in my patio and want to change it to tiles. Do I need to concrete first or can I lay the tiles on the dirt?

Could you please tell our helpful members a little more about the type of tiles you wish to install? That would assist them in providing advice.
Typically, it would only be thicker pavers like the Brighton Masonry 400 x 400 x 40mm Charcoal Mypave Paver that could be laid onto compacted ground. Thinner 20mm pavers and tiles require a concrete slab and must be glued onto it.
