How to replace a garden tap?

Hi, the tap in my garden is really stiff to turn on or off. I have tried soaking it in WD40 but that didn't help. How do I go about changing it for a nice new tap? I habe very little DIY experience so would appreciate idiot proof advice and instructions. Thanks in advance

In order for us to give you a comprehensive recommendation. Would it be possible for you to post a photo of your garden tap? This will give our members a chance to assess how the tap is installed. We can then make recommendations on how you can remove and replace your garden tap.
