Can I paint over an Ikea tabletop and keep the texture?

Hey!

I recently bought the IKEA DOCKSTA tabletop, with plans to DIY a dining table with a separate leg that I plan to attach the tabletop to. I initially wanted to re-laminate the tabletop but realised that it might be easier to just paint over the white tabletop. I would like to paint the tabletop a deep green colour like the reference below:

 

Is this possible while keeping the texture of the DOCKSTA table? I'm worried about the durability of the paint, especially if we are going to be using the table a lot for meals and hosting etc.
