Old and weathered deck chairs repaired, sanded and coated with white outdoor paint.

The project
I picked up these two sun lounges and the timber was weathered pretty badly. I spent a bit of time sanding them back and had to replace three bits of the timber slats in the middle of one lounge and remould the rounded timber edging. I sanded both by hand and with a sander.

Also, all four corners of both lounges had been chewed, so I cut them back with a handsaw and sanded them back into shape. Then I put filler and glue in some of the timber throughout where they had split.
I then put an undercoat on them and then two coats of matt white outdoor paint in white colour. Next, I sealed it with two coats of clear matt varnish, lightly sanding between the coats for added protection from the elements. I then put new rubber on the wheels and replaced the dowel that held the wheels on as they had rotted and snapped.

Finally, I polished all the gold bolts and parts on the lounges.
