Can you use aluminium corner tile trims in a shower enclosure?

Hi there, just wondering if it's common practice to use aluminium internal corner tile trims in the shower recess? If so, are these normally grouted or is silicon used?

Also I would assume epoxy grout would be preferred over cement based, would this be correct?

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you join us.

Usually, internal corners are done with silicone that is coloured to match the grout. There may be internal trims designed for this purpose, but I am not aware of any.

Epoxy grout such as Dunlop 3.25kg Slate Grey Easy Clean Epoxy Grout Kit has many benefits over cement-based grout including their high strength, crack resistance, resistance to harsh chemicals, lack of efflorescence, and antimicrobial properties. This does however come at an increased cost when compared with cement-based grout such as Dunlop 5kg Flexible Coloured Grout.

That does look like a nice product and it is supposed to be easy to keep clean. Which would be a bonus. I dont know it tho may keep it in mind for when i redo my bathroom 🙂 Id probarlly hit up the bat trim people 🙂 Yes I did resist going full batman on it 🙂

Internal Bat Trim corner says if you are going to use it then it should be finished with an appropriate silicone sealant.

I must admit I havnt had a lot to do with tiling and would hesitate to get a nice finish unles sI was use to tiling.

Thanks Dave, apparently it only comes in 6mm and 10mm profiles. I'm using 10mm tiles on the walls, so I really need 12mm.

I really like the idea of that corner trim, so maybe I'll look at putting packers under the 10mm profile.

Hi @erickendall that’s a nice looking product. I’ve done a lot of bathroom reno’s but have never used that trim before as a matching silicon sealant is the more common and cheap finish used as @JacobZ mentioned.

I would imagine it would be fixed with a translucent bathroom silicone he also tagged.

Thanks for the reply Nailbag. I'll order a length of this trim next week and see if I can adapt it. I'll have to space it out from the wall unfortunately. The largest available is 10mm and I'm using 10mm tiles on the wall.
