Can you lay vinyl tiles over yellowtongue?

I have yellow tongue flooring in a newly renovated kitchen area. I believe the wax side is facing down towards the ground. i’m wanting to lay self adhesive vinyl tiles in this area but trying to avoid raising flooring with underlay too much as the yellow tongue is currently flush with existing flooring. Can I lay the vinyl tiles directly on the yellowtongue if I use a primer such as bondcrete? 
any advice appreciated.

For our self-adhesive vinyl tiles, a masonite underlay must be installed over the yellow tongue, which then needs to be primed with Boncrete. As far as I'm aware, the yellow tongue has a wax coating on both sides, so that might be the reason why you can't prime and lay over it.
