How to revive Calathea plant?

I think it's a Calathea Roseopicta Crimson. So I got this plant about 3 months ago. Its grown a new leaf but I've notice some of the leaves are starting to get a little crispy around the edges but then when I have a look at the top soil it looks a little moldy on bark. So im a little confused about this plant? It sits on kitchen windows, thats under a veranda. I've put it on a plate with rocks/water. Don't know if that helps.  any advice will be helpful ? I suspect it's either an over or under-watering issue. Could you tell us a little bit about your watering regime? At this time of the year, I'd recommend you take the pot to the sink and allow the water to flow through it until the soil is saturated. Allow it to drain, and then return it to your saucer. Only water again once the soil begins to dry out.

I'm not concerned about the bark's appearance, as this is just a natural occurrence. Remove some of the bark from the top. If the soil is bone dry, you're likely underwatering it. However, don't fill the saucer with water and let the plant stand in it. You want to water, drain, and then place it back. No plant likes soggy feet.
