How to do an underlay for vinyl flooring in a rental?

Hiya! I am wanting to put these vinyl tiles on my rental bathroom floor, wondering if anyone has a hack with putting something down first to help the aftermath of the sticky residue once we have to remove this

I have heard some people have put down poster boards first or even painters tape and it has worked for them. Any other waterproof friendly hacks/ideas that anyone knows of?

Thanks for sharing your question about vinyl flooring. I've been trying to think of a panel that can withstand the heavy moisture of the bathroom and the only thing that comes to mind is cement sheeting for tiles. It's heavy and not easily cut into shapes, but it is waterproof, and you easily stick the vinyl tiles onto it. When the time comes that you have to go, the panel can be lifted and broken apart to de disposed of.

However, another idea came to me as I was looking at your vinyl tile. I propose using Senso 2m Beige Wood Practica Vinyl Sheet instead of the sticky vinyl. This is a giant vinyl sheet that's two meters wide and can be purchased by the meter. It can be cut using an ordinary craft knife and the edges can be secured by using heavy-duty double-sided tape. The entire flooring does not need to be stuck to the entire floor. As a single sheet of flooring, it would be much easier to install and remove. I suggest having a look at vinyl sheet on your next visit.
