How to fix rusted soakwell drain grate?

hi! While repairing some uneven paving on the driveway we see that the grate covering the soakwell is partially rusted. We have had a few quotes for repair which includes replacement of grate and cover, repaving and skip hire to remove old cover.. Is it possible to reinforce the grate without the expense of replacement??

Thanks for sharing your question about your rusted drain grate. I'm sorry but the grate has deteriorated far too much to be refurbished. If it was just surface rust, it might have been possible to retard the rusting process, but now the metal grill is far too gone and will probably give way if stepped on.  

I propose measuring the size of the grate and see if any of the following will fit:

• Everhard Class A Galvanised Grate - To Suit Series 300 Pit
   
• Everhard Class A Galvanised Grate to Suit Series 450 Pit
   
• Everhard Industries Class A Galvanised Grate - To Suit Series 600 Pit

If none of the pre-made grates fit your existing opening, I'm afraid your only choice is to have one made and have it painted in cold galv to protect it from the elements.
