How to smooth rough concrete walls?

I would like to render a form rough concrete wall. It was poured like the way pools are and will be a sunken seating area. Do I need to use some sort of filler first or can render straight on ?

I'm using exterior self leveling concrete for the floor part.

Thank you for sharing your question about rendering your rough concrete walls. If it is a rough concrete surface, I see no reason why you can't render straight on. My only suggestion is to make sure that the surface of the concrete is clean and free of debris.
