Thank you for your question about gate hardware for a timber gate.
My suggestion is to grab some tee hinges such as these Zenith 200mm Matte Black Tee Gate Hinge which will look nice with a LokkLatch General Purpose Gate Latch.
This set up would require you to cut a hole for your hand to go through to unlatch the gate from the outside. This can be done with a hole saw or jig saw.
